Steve:
I just thought you might enjoy this.
My best buddy and partner 90% of the time I fish is my 15 year
old grandson; Jeremy. It was overcast here today, and rainy
off and on but we thought we'd try our luck at a pond near my
house. It contains some good size bass as well as bluegills,
crappie, channel cats and a few other species.
It's been a hot summer. Topwater seems to be what's worked
best lately, as is usual this time of year. I fished a small
floating Rapala and Jeremy was using popping bugs. Neither of
us had much luck. Even though I didn't think conditions were
really right for them, I tied on one of the
Olive Minnow bucktail jigs I just bought
from you. I immediately got a bite. My grandson saw the action
and tied on the other one I'd brought. He ended up hooking
several of the biggest bass we'd ever caught on that water!
I think it was the slow fall of that jig that triggered them.
You use those really long buck tail hairs that flair out on
both the fall and also when you pop the jig. On Jeremy's last
bass, the fish broke off just as he was being landed. Jeremy
switched to another kind of hair jig, since we'd only brought
those two, but caught nothing after that.
I want to thank you for a great product. I'll try to get
pictures next time. Meanwhile, I'll order more jigs!
